Knowing my continued obsession with fashion, most would expect me to have a huge collection of threads. I guess that I would too! People are usually so surprised to see just how calculable and limited my closet really is. I am a huge supporter of local fashion – not just by words but by action. Much of my closet is made up of custom bespoke pieces by local South African Fashion Designers.
I am very conscientious about ‘buying less and using more’. And when supporting brands authenticity, values, ethical production and transparency are most important to me. I firmly believe that as conscious consumers, we can transform the fast fashion industry. The Rana Plaza tragedy in Bangladesh has revealed the darker side of fashion, a not so glamorous one. Let us all continue to plant seeds of consciousness and force brands to behave more responsibly.
Our behavior as consumers is the solution to the fast fashion nightmare!
Today I’m wearing a striped top and faux fur jacket from Zara with a bespoke skirt made by Tsotetsi KL. My shoes are from Steve Madden.
