Column dresses are those that drop to the floor in one clean line from top to bottom, belted or not, it looks great with killer heels because it creates an even longer illusion of height to your look, so it’s not hard to understand why it’s called a column silhouette right?!
So we saw these column shapes marching down the runway for Winter 2012-2013 from the infamous Louis Vuitton, to British brands like Giles and Temperley London (whose designs are so magnicicent that The Duchess of Cambridge wore her Alice Temperley lace dress twice *gasp*).
But it looks like this trend will be here for longer than just winter as another elegant lady has been spotted repeatedly in this fashion trend in 2013. Anne Hathaway has been seen in a number of column dresses this year, there was even a big controversy of whose dress she was going to wear at the Oscars, she said that the Valentino she was planning to wear was too similar to someone else’s but I think she decided on this Prada dress because the column silhouette is starting to become part of her new look with that sweet pixie haircut.
