Raw Textured Silk

Today I am going to share an essential Style Tip with you which is life-changing in respect of wardrobe curation. But, before I go on, I would like to know… When it comes to clothing, what influences your purchase decisions?

As an advocate of Slow Design, my style decisions are more meaningful and extend beyond colour and trend. I have a discerning eye for fabric quality and immaculate tailoring, but fashion with integrity is most important to me. So naturally, ethics, fabric composition and cuts are decisive factors when it comes to my buying choices.

I support ethical fashion initiatives that encourage slow fashion and slow design. Over the years, I’ve championed the work of many unsung South African Fashion Designers all in celebration of supporting local and those that know me would tell you that I am all about ‘quality over quantity’!

My signature style is always evolving, and although I quite enjoy a palette-cleansing muted tone now and then, I have over the years developed an acute fondness for vibrant hues of rich, raw textured silks.

When you touch silk, its impossible to ever go back to rayon ♡

Style Tip:
It’s time to train your eye! When choosing timeless pieces for your wardrobe, always invest in high-quality fabrics that will see you through seasons. Check your labels for fabric composition before buying. The warmth of cashmere, the lightness of cotton, and the gentleness of silk can become oh-so-addictive!

These fabric choices may seem overpriced at the onset resulting in fewer purchases, but your clothing will serve you for years to come. You want to choose fabrics that feel luxurious on your skin, fabrics that drape well, flatter your body shape and don’t restrict your movement. Natural fibres are more durable and wear better when compared to synthetic blends. But keep in mind that natural silk/cotton blends and wool/cashmere combos are beautiful choices.

As always, I’m here and available if you need some styling advice.

To your elegance and eloquence!
