My latest obsession goes by the name of Harvey Specter, “the best closer New York City has ever seen”. If you haven’t been watching Suits, the latest haute tv series on Mnet, do yourself a favour and start. Harvey Specter is a big time lawyer in the big apple with a charming smile and witty lines that are sharper than his tailored pinstriped suit.
By taking one of the most iconic garments in our wardrobes, this new series embodies what power a great suit has. Not only has this series encouraged men to don a perfectly tailored suit but has also displayed subtle ways to wear and mix colours. What I’ve seen in almost every episode is the 1950’s light grey suit, that looks equally as smart but more dapper.
One of my favourite styling choices is that the leading ladies never wear trousers. Jessica Pearson, Donna Paulsen and Rachel Zane use their femininity as a strength and not a weakness in the boardroom. So ladies live in the words of the late and great Marilyn Monroe “I don’t mind living in a man’s world as long as I can be a woman in it.”
