Valentino Autumn/Winter 2011 | Paris Fashion Week

A dreamy collection peppered with charm was presented by Maria Grazia Chiuri and Pier Paolo Picciolo, Valentino’s designer duo, at the end of Paris Fashion Week.

The soft but spicy combination of colours fused into the cross-textured trend, makes me think of a woman who is soft-hearted with a quiet strength.   Her boldness revealed by the bounce in her step and the flutter of her skirt.

The clothes are fitted closely to the body without being tense making for a romantic Autumn.  We are seeing a lot of satins and lace, soft ribbed knits, understated leather finished off with ribbon belts and patent nude heels.

Staging mostly above the knee skirts and full-length dresses, the feminine look was toppled with bed-hair roughly tied up and crowned with skinny headbands.  The make-up – vampish on the eye and nude on the lips.

I see someone like Gwyneth Paltrow wearing these garments.  Perhaps even Charlize Theron.

I love it.   I have always loved Valentino.  However having moved to the Seychelles, which is now also moving out of Summer and into Autumn, I am feeling that as sheer as these fabrics are, the design which covers much of the upper body and the closed shoes, it may be just too much for even Autumn-island life.

But for the rest of you, how lucky are you to possess the genius talent of Valentino once again?!
