Offline is The New Luxury

Happy 2018 darlings. I wish you all infinite blessings and a beautiful, healthy and prosperous New Year. May your hearts be full, always. ♡

OFFLINE IS THE NEW LUXURY

Every New Year brings along with it the promise of new dreams, new goals, and a slew of ‘New Year, New Me’ catchphrases. I know, I know… you’ve heard it all before. But, I felt the need to share this quote with you because it resonated deeply with me and my goals for 2018.

FINDING THE RIGHT BALANCE BETWEEN MY ONLINE AND OFFLINE LIFE HAS BEEN DEBILITATING AND A HUGE CHALLENGE FOR ME.

Mindfulness is having It’S moment

Our media-soaked culture of constant connection and digital noise makes it all too easy to fall into this pattern of feeling stuck in “deadline hell” and on “autopilot” all day. Practising mindfulness has taught me to pause and reflect, and be fully connected to the present moment.

As someone who struggles with chronic fatigue from tech burnout, mindfulness has indeed contributed a considerable positive change in my life. It is so difficult to stay present in a world full of distractions and ever-growing to-do lists, but when you make that initial commitment to change, you are bound to see results.

Soul Food
“Mindfulness is the aware, balanced acceptance of the present experience. It isn’t more complicated than that. It is opening to or receiving the present moment, pleasant or unpleasant, just as it is, without either clinging to it or rejecting it.” – Sylvia Boorstein

“Mindfulness is about being fully awake in our lives. It is about perceiving the exquisite vividness of each moment. We also gain immediate access to our own powerful inner resources for insight, transformation, and healing.” –  Jon Kabat-Zinn

There is no easy way to evade tech addiction, but a part of the change requires that you filter through the information overload by setting aside specific times to engage with tech. Turn off unnecessary notifications, purge worthless apps and schedule specific times to check your emails and social media feeds. When socialising, intentionally log off your devices and enjoy being present in the moment.

Remember to only give your attention to that which adds value to your life. Let’s create more intentional experiences using tech to enrich our lives and not replace human experiences.

To your success and social magnificence!

Yours in Style,
XK

  1. Namaste. stunnining blog post. Thank You for this. We all need tO disconnect from our technOlogy from time go time and just be. I think the mindfulness movement is going to continue becoming bigger and bigger and things like vipassana (10 day silent meditation) is going to become INCREASINGLY popular.

  2. This is 100% true. I beleive everyone has an addiction, and to a lot of people it is the internet and being “always-on” We need to break away from this and focus our valuable time and energy on the things that matter most.
