StyleSociety™ announces Fashion For Literacy – One Step at a Time. Make a difference today for Kusasa

The Fashion For Literacy initiative is the brainchild of StyleSociety™ editor and fashion enthusiast, Kumari Govender; and was inspired by Madiba’s 67 minutes. This simple, generous act of giving away 67 pairs of school shoes evolved into the idea of enticing shopping mavens – to shop with a heart.

Fashion For Literacy

Fashion for Literacy’s pilot beneficiary for 2014 is The Kusasa Project based in Franschhoek, focusing on immediate needs of the Early Learning Centre’s Grade 1 and two learners,  and officially launched on the 29th of November at StyleSociety™ Pop-up Boutique in Cape Town.

Fashionistas who stepped out to last year’s exclusive 4th edition Pop up Boutique at the CTICC were encouraged to dig deep and bring along stationery, books or a pair of school shoes. The Kusasa Project is a PBO that empowers and uplifts the lives of hundreds of underprivileged children in impoverished communities.

How Are You Helping
Giving back when we have more than enough is an act that resonates with the endearing beauty that lies within us all. Starting by uplifting the lives of our kusasa leaders in the smallest way will pave the way for their brightest future.

Small charities are the grassroots of our communities, and we need your help. Donate today in the true spirit of Ubuntu.

Thank You

I would like to shower my thanks and gratitude to all who have supported my #FashionForLiteracy‬ campaign.

Thanks to the generosity and foresight of our donors, The Kusasa Project’s Grade 1 and two learners welcomed the new school year with brand new school shoes, stationery supplies and backpacks.

The heartfelt feedback I’ve received from The Kusasa Project has only reaffirmed my commitment to working towards literacy-rich classrooms.

Let’s work together for change, one child at a time.

With gratitude,
Kumari
