Dubai Travel Diaries – One & Only The Palm

Dubai Travel Diaries - One & Only The Palm

We visited Dubai for a quick weekend getaway in July this year and opted to stay at the gorgeous One & Only The Palm. This opulent luxury resort is situated on the beachfront peninsula on the iconic Palm Jumeirah. The hotel and grounds are immaculate and luxurious.

The hotel manager, concierge and staff are both extremely efficient and friendly. We booked a Palm Manor Premium Room which was exquisite. The bedroom, living area and bathroom was huge with a lovely private balcony. You would always find taxi’s waiting outside so it was fairly easy to commute from the hotel to the malls and souks etc. If there were no taxis it could also be quickly arranged with concierge. We managed to find a good driver and used him for the most of our trip.

Unfortunately for us, there were problems with the hot water in the room – so we had cold showers on arrival which was awful. A technician was sent out to look at the problem but didn’t manage to resolve it so that meant cold shower again the next morning and late afternoon. Eventually I called the front desk again to get a manager involved who immediately moved us to a Premier Room at the Palm Beach Mansions. The move was quite a mission as it was on day 2 of our 3 day stay in Dubai but we appreciated the kind gesture and welcomed the hot shower.

Like the Palm Manor Premium Room, the Palm Beach Premier Room was superb. It had a private balcony overlooking the beach with stunning views. The luxurious bathroom had a stunning vanity and a huge freestanding marble bath. The highlight for me was the rain shower which made it feel like home.

The concierge also managed to arrange for our Heritage Dinner Safari with Platinum Heritage in a 1960s Land Rover. It was so much fun. I’ve always loved Dubai for the shopping but after my first Desert Safari with Platinum Heritage – it is now my favorite Dubai specialty. I cannot wait to do it again…

Platinum Heritage offers an authentic experience. We booked the Heritage Dinner with the 1960s Land Rover and this was amazing. We were so concerned about the heat but it was bearable and not uncomfortable at all. The desert is much cooler than the city, so we really enjoyed the 1960’s Land Rover that we booked. No regrets.

Also their guides are not into dune bashing so you don’t have to worry about being bruised or sick like I’ve read in some reviews. The food, the setup the entertainment – Amazing! We enjoyed every moment and would love to do it again on our next trip!

On the last night we had dinner at the 101 at the Marina. Amazing food! Amazing service from the waitress. I wish I remembered her name. All in all it was a wonderful holiday in Dubai 🙂
