We visited Dubai for a quick weekend getaway at the end of July. We stayed at the opulent ONE&ONLY THE PALM, a luxury resort situated on the beachfront peninsula on the iconic Palm Jumeirah. The hotel and grounds are immaculate and so luxurious.
We booked a Palm Manor Premium Room, which was exquisite. The premium suite had a spacious living area, bedroom and bathroom, including a lovely private balcony.
You would always find taxi’s waiting outside the resort, so it was relatively easy to commute from the hotel to all the major tourist attractions, including malls and souks. If there were a shortage of taxis during peak hours, the proficient concierge would arrange one with ease. We managed to find an excellent chauffeur and used him one for most of our stay.
One&Only The Palm in Palm Jumeirah, Dubai
The hotel manager, concierge and staff were all extremely efficient and friendly, which always adds to a memorable stay.
We had a little hiccup on arrival. There were issues with the hot water system in the room allocated to us, which meant icy showers on arrival. A technician was sent out to attend to the problem but didn’t manage to have it resolved. That resulted in a cold shower again the next morning and late afternoon. Eventually, I reached out to the front desk to get a manager involved. He immediately moved us to a Premier Suite at the Palm Beach Mansions.
I have to admit that the move was quite a shlep as it was on the second morning of our three-day stay in Dubai, but we appreciated the kind gesture, and so welcomed a hot shower.
The Palm Beach Premier Suite was superb. Our suite had a private balcony overlooking the beach with the most glorious view. And a luxurious bathroom with a stunning vanity and a huge free-standing marble bath. The highlight for me was the incredible rain shower which made it feel like home.
The concierge had also arranged our Heritage Dinner Safari with Platinum Heritage in a 1960s Land Rover. I highly recommend Platinum Heritage for desert safari tours. It was a delightful experience. It is no secret that I have always loved Dubai for shopping. Still, after experiencing my first Desert Safari with Platinum Heritage – it is now my favourite pastime in Dubai. I seriously cannot wait to do it again.
Platinum Heritage offers an authentic desert safari experience. We booked the Heritage Dinner with the 1960s Land Rover, and it was an incredible experience. We were concerned about the unbearable heat, but it was not uncomfortable at all. The desert temperature is so much cooler than the city, so we had no regrets. We thoroughly enjoyed our experience in the 1960’s Land Rover.
Also, Platinum Heritage offers a more refined safari experience which suits my preference. If you’re into dune bashing, cool but I am all about comfort. I don’t want to have to worry about being bruised or getting car sick (yuck) as I’ve read in some reviews. So miss me.
The Platinum Heritage dinner was an enjoyable experience. We savoured a magical evening, dining under the stars, and relishing the most delectable cuisine. It was an incredible evening filled with loads of activities and entertainment, and we enjoyed every precious moment. We would love to do it again on our next trip!
We ended our last night in Palm Jumeirah with delectable fine dining at the 101 at the Marina. The food was incredible, and we had the most pleasant waitress who went above and beyond to make sure the night was perfect. We have such amazing memories of Dubai, and it was wonderful to add these to our treasure trove of memoirs.
