I am honoured to be featured as Glamour Magazine South Africa’s latest style diarist in their “Today I’m wearing” closet diary series. Please head over to Glamour.co.za to follow my style journey over the next ten days.
I rarely share outfit posts on StyleSociety, but I have to admit that I’ve had so much fun putting together these looks that I might consider sharing my OOTD more often. I would love to hear your thoughts on my choices.
Glamour Magazine | Style Diary | Today I’m wearing
I have cut back on blogging and StyleSociety content while shifting my focus to my online store, keeping me super occupied. I also want to make sure that my content is adding value to my readers. Because I am not about chasing vanity metrics and adding to all the ‘digital noise’. I usually spend time endlessly tweaking and polishing material, making sure I’m adding value before pushing ‘publish’. I often feel like all this perpetual fine-tuning can be agonising and crushing my productivity.

Social media has brought about profound changes in the digital landscape. We are constantly bombarded with information (what I like to call digital noise), with everyone vying for attention. I don’t want to add to the noise. I want to initiate meaningful conversations that help me connect with my readers.
Everyone has loved my outfit posts on social, so if time permits, I might pursue a more visual approach to my content in the future. And throw my creativity more into styling and not so much on my ‘words’.
Please share your thoughts in the comment section below. I would love to hear your thoughts.

My wardrobe choices
You would notice that I mostly invest in statement pieces which form part of my wardrobe choices. Most people are usually surprised to see how calculable and limited my closet really is, knowing my obsession with fashion. I love supporting local, and much of my wardrobe consists of bespoke custom-made pieces by local South African Fashion Designers.
I want to think of myself as a conscientious shopper, always buying less and using more. And when supporting brands, authenticity, values, ethical production, and transparency is most important to me.
I firmly believe that as conscious consumers, we can transform the fast fashion industry. The Rana Plaza tragedy in Bangladesh has revealed the darker side of fashion, a not so glamorous one. Let us all continue to plant seeds of consciousness and force brands to behave more responsibly. Our behaviour as consumers is the solution to ending this fast-fashion nightmare!
Up-Close Interview with Kumari Govender
I want to end my Style Diarist feature with a recent Up-Close Interview for LAILA + GRACE. Please have a look at my interview below.
I am happiest when…
I am with my husband, two adorable pugs and spending time with my family.
I am inspired by…
Knowledge & … The distinctive alchemy of Art, Travel & Architecture has always been a huge inspiration for me.
My design philosophy is…
Modern maximalism and an exploration of curiosity with a soulful yet progressive approach.
The item on top of my lust list is…
My current goal is …
To balance my offline and online life by being mindful and connected to the present moment. The culture of constant connection and digital noise makes it all too easy to fall into this pattern of feeling stuck on “autopilot” all day. Practising mindfulness has taught me to pause and reflect and be in the moment.
My favourite quote is…
“Every adversity, every failure, every heartache carries with it the seed of an equal or greater benefit.” – Napoleon Hill.
